Disney Dining Plan Explained
A Disney Dining Plan is one of the many enhancements you can add to your Walt Disney World vacation, but it can feel confusing if you’ve never used one before. This guide breaks it down so you can understand your options and decide if it’s the right fit for your trip.
What is the Disney Dining Plan?
The Disney Dining Plan is an optional add-on available to guests staying at select Walt Disney World Resort hotels. It allows you to pre-pay for meals before your trip, helping simplify budgeting and reduce out-of-pocket spending while you’re there.
Dining credits are linked to your MagicBand, your mobile app, or room key and can be used at participating locations throughout the parks, resorts, and Disney Springs.
Depending on the plan you choose, you’ll receive a combination of:
- Quick-service meals
- Table-service meals
- Snack credits
Every plan also includes a refillable resort beverage mug.
Understanding the Dining Credit Types
Quick-Service Meals
Quick-service meals are casual, counter-style dining options found throughout the parks and resorts. No reservations are required, and many locations allow mobile ordering through the My Disney Experience app. Even allowing you to schedule a pick up time for your convenience!
A quick-service meal typically includes:
- 1 entrée
- 1 beverage (may include alcoholic or specialty beverages for guests 21+)
This option works well for guests who prefer flexibility and minimal planning.
Table-Service Meals
Table-service meals offer a sit-down dining experience where you are seated and served by a cast member. Reservations are not required but highly recommended, especially for popular restaurants.
A table-service meal typically includes:
- 1 entrée
- 1 beverage (may include alcoholic or specialty beverages for guests 21+)
- 1 dessert
Gratuity is not included and is paid separately at the time of dining.
This option is ideal for guests planning character dining or signature dining experiences.
Snack Credits
Snack credits can be redeemed for a variety of single-serving items, including:
- Ice cream treats
- Popcorn
- Bottled beverages
- Bakery items
- Select festival items
- Fruit or packaged snacks
Eligible items are marked with a Disney Dining Plan symbol at participating locations.

Important Things to Know
- All guests on the same reservation must choose the same dining plan
- Children under 3 do not require a dining plan and may share meals or dine at buffet-style restaurants at no additional charge
- Credits can be used at any time during your trip (they are not limited to one per day)
- Participating locations and credit requirements are subject to change
- Dining plans are priced per person, per night of stay
For example, a 5-night stay on the Quick-Service Dining Plan includes:
- 10 quick-service meals
- 5 snack credits
- 1 refillable resort mug
Dining credits are automatically deducted when you scan your MagicBand, MagicMobile pass, or room key. You can track remaining credits in the My Disney Experience app or on receipts. Unused credits expire at midnight on your checkout day.
Is the Disney Dining Plan Worth It?
The value of the Disney Dining Plan depends on how you prefer to vacation.
It may be a good fit if you:
- Prefer to pre-pay most or all of your meals
- Plan to enjoy multiple character or signature dining experiences
- Like having most of your dining budget set before you arrive
Paying out of pocket may be a better option if you want more flexibility in how and where you dine.
